Paulina Fricke - The Lady Derp - On-Camera Acting & Voiceover

From Pirate to Paramount

Paulina has been acting since 7th grade when she was cast as a pirate/siren creature in a very avant garde middle school production in Salt Lake City, UT.

She’s been in love with acting ever since. She was lucky as hell to go to a high school with a legit black box theatre and an ex NYU professor. Instead of Grease – Paulina performed in Greek Tragedies, Shakespearean comedies, and her favorite: Chekhov Plays. She studied the International Phonetic Alphabet and honed her RP and Irish dialects.

And that was all before college! At LMU Paulina performed on stage, and on camera but also began to write and direct shows and short films herself. She was the dramaturg for Doris Baizley, and also began editing and transcribing for blind playwrights.

It’s been a winding path to where she is today: from a Page at Paramount Pictures to Animal Care at the Humane Society, to a Drama and Yoga teacher at a private school, and even a year as a foster mom to her neice and nephew – Paulina has a WIDE range of life experiences to pull from.

Her greatest moment on film to date was getting her head ripped off by a possessed mascot monster, though she also really loves killing people, on set of course. She loves using her improv chops on set of commercials – but her absolute favorite is pulling out every silly voice and dialect she can do for animation.

Today Paulina balances her voice over and on camera work with teaching Acting and Improv to students ranging from 7-70 at Zach and The Hideout Theatre in Austin, TX. In her free time she loves to dance, play in her yoga hammock, host parties with her extroverted partner, listen to audiobooks, and go on long walks with her senior pitbull, Jung Bug.
